ACTIVITIES
1)
Human Development Department has undertaken a project in collaboration
with Telco, on "Anganwadi Teachers' Development Programme" with
focus on training in Early Childhood Education , in Khed Taluka,
Pune District.
a) One such project of 3 years duration ( September 1999 to June
2002) has been completed at Chakan & Ranjangaon.
b) Another project is in continuation at Pait.The completed project consisted
of 27 sessions divided into 3 phases i.e. initial phase ,intermediate phase
and last phase.
2) The Department undertook 'Preschool Teachers' Training Programme' , in collaboration
with Maharashtra Kamgar Kalyan Mandal . The tenure was of 4 days i.e.28th to
31st August, 2002.
This training project consisted of 20 sessions with emphasis on acquisition
of skills necessary to work with Preschools.
3) The Department is presently working on a project by Child's World , an organization
formed by a group of professionals from various fields, especially from IT
Industry, engaged in various activities related to child development.
The faculty from the Department is a Technical Reviewer on subjects selected
by Child's World.
SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS
*International level -Indo-Swedish-1993-94.
The department had organised a joint Indo-Swedish Seminar on 'Child's Right
to Play' in Pune from 1st June -4th June 93.
Ms.Veena Sant presented a paper on 'Field work of students in an orthopaedic
ward'. All articles & papers have been compiled in a book form.
*Local level -The Department conducted a seminar on 'Implications of Piaget's
Theory of Education' on 23 October 1996 - in joint collaboration with Maharashtra
Institute for Mental Health and Jnana Prabodhini .
*UGC sponsored Refresher Course in Human Development was conducted by the College
in the year 1994 - 1995.

SOME
HIGHLIGHTS

The
SNDT. Nursery School established in 1973 functions as
a Child Development Laboratory to train the U.G.& P.G.
students of the department of Human Development since
1973. It is
a pioneer laboratory school in Pune, the only one of
its kind to adopt the playway method. The S.N.D.T. Nursery
school has helped and continues to help other preschool
set ups
such as nursery schools,daycare centres whenever approached
by the concerned authorities. |

The
U.G.E.C.C.E. programme has evolved into an intensive training
programme and has earned a good reputation amongst the nursery
schools in Pune. The students usually get employment even
before they graduate. |

The
P.G. course in E.C.E. is in great demand. |
 |
Many
of our U.G. & P.G. students are doing commendable
work and holding high positions in their respective fields. |
 |
The
department is actively involved in inservice training and
consultation services to preschool personnel and Government
Deaprtment as well as Non Government Department Organisation.(NGOs)
At present the Dept. is conducting a preprimary teacher's
training programme in collaboration with Telco since 1999. |

The
department organizes and conducts enrichment programmes
for students to:-
a)
Reinforce classroom teaching.
b) To acquaint them with the recent trends and advances in related areas of
Human Development. e.g. workshops on gender sensitivity , participating in
educational fair. |
